New Partnership with
the Local Community Food Centre

Wormy McWormface, the book sale’s mascot, is on the move and has found a new partnership with the Local Community Food Centre (The Local).  The Local is generously providing space for the book sales, as well as drop off arrangements and a large storage area for PF Solutions (PF), a local organization that hosts and benefits from the book sale proceeds.

“The Stratford Used Book Sale is such a wonderful community event”, shared Susan Faber, Manager of PF.  “The community is pleased to have somewhere to donate their books, and then everyone is just so thrilled to attend the sale. We see people coming back during the sale 2 or 3 times!”  Faber continued “It is also such a great fundraiser for PF and we really appreciate the support from our community partners and the people of Perth County”. The Stratford Used Book Sales was generously gifted to PF from the Stratford Library a number of years ago.

PF Solutions is a practice first program where individuals facing barriers to employment attend over a period of time to upgrade their administration skills and gain work experience, increasing their employability.  PF helps between 30-36 participants a year to employment.  The Local and PF Solutions are both supported partners of United Way Perth-Huron and actively work to help move people from poverty to possibility.

Books can be donated at the Local, 612 Erie Street, during their Community Access Market each Monday 4:30pm – 6:30pm, or Friday 10:30am – 1pm.  “If you need help dropping off your books, please call PF Solutions at 519 271 2978, or email info@pf-solutions.ca and we can certainly help you,” shared Faber.

The next book sale is being held Saturday October 21st, 2017 from 8am – 6pm and PF is actively seeking volunteers for setup, the sale and pack up.  “Youth, looking for community hours, and can “lift” are welcome on the Friday night to set up, and Sunday, to help pack,” stated Faber.  For those that like sorting books into different genres, can enjoy a soothing volunteer experience, and a chance to preview books.  Volunteers can contact PF directly.
